TEP Talk: AI and Icebergs

With spring in full bloom, we at Tech Square ATL (TSQATL) Social Club have been appreciating the warmer weather, while simultaneously recognizing the unfortunate effects of climate change that come along with it. And we’re not the only ones. Microsoft is on the same page, with their AI for Earth initiative centered around providing cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to those working to solve global environmental challenges. So, we put on both our environmentalist and technologist hats and headed over to Technology Enterprise Park (TEP) to enjoy the sunshine and host a Coffee Talk around this exact topic.

Though we think of ourselves as profound storytellers, we at Tech Square ATL Social Club also recognize that art takes on many forms of expression. To highlight such appreciation for the arts, we’ve implemented a “Creative Corner” series – articles and social posts showcasing the recent projects and collections from our community members. This week we are featuring Shruti Vedula, a Georgia Tech student and Director of Marketing for Startup Exchange (SX).

Mixing Memorization and Mimosas in Honor of Pi Day

At Tech Square ATL (TSQATL) Social Club, we love a good reason to celebrate. And since Sunday, March 14 was Pi Day and Albert Einstein’s birthday, what better way to commemorate these holidays than to host our very first Math + Mimosas series – a great way to nerd out with other community members while catching up over complimentary adult beverages. So, in honor of such an occasion, we went to the Centergy One lobby during lunch last Friday to put the memorization skills of our community members to the test – all with a Pi theme, of course.

Taking Flight: The Future of Personal Transportation

On this month 22 years ago, the first nonstop hot air balloon flight around the world was completed by Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones. On March 21, 1999, they travelled 25,361 miles on a hot air balloon in 21 days. This had us thinking about how since then, aerospace technology has advanced in ways that may bring us the pod racers we saw in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (also released in 1999) sooner rather than later. From personal jet packs to flying motorcycles, here are three examples of technology that will take us gliding in the air from point A to B.
