Superpowers Coming to Life Through Technology

Every week at The Clubhouse, we pose a question on our big conversation board about what’s been on the radar for our members lately. This is designed to not only spark conversations and encourage collaboration, but to also allow us to better know our community members in a fun and unique way. Recently, we asked what two superpowers you would choose to have.

We received a variety of answers, from invisibility to super speed and even instantly getting food (which already exists, people – it’s called DoorDash). However, the most popular responses were all related to the mind: control, reading, exchange – even telepathy, intelligence, and memory have to do with it. So what’s the fascination?

Maybe it’s because of Elon Musk’s Neuralink, which consists of a coin-size chip that would be implanted into your skull and connects to the Neuralink app via bluetooth, making it possible to control your mobile phone with just your thoughts.

Another company looking into the mind is Facebook's Reality Labs. They just unveiled a mind-reading wrist device and an augmented reality keyboard, with the intent of replacing the current (or antiquated, in their eyes) mouse and keyboard. The wrist device is able to read neurological signals sent from the brain, which  can then theoretically replicate the action in a virtual or augmented environment.

DID YOU KNOW?
