Event Recap: Interactivity 2025
On February 11, 2025, Georgia Tech’s Institute for People and Technology (IPaT) and Master’s Program in Human-Computer Interaction (MS-HCI) held the Interactivity@GT event, bringing together students, faculty, and industry professionals to explore cutting-edge research and innovations in human-computer interaction. Held at the Technology Square Research Building (TSRB) right here in Tech Square, this year’s event featured interactive discussions, student presentations, and opportunities for meaningful networking among some of Atlanta’s top tech leaders.
The event started with the highly anticipated "Innovation in Atlanta" panel. This interactive session delved into Atlanta's unique position as a growing hub for technology innovation. Panelists discussed how Georgia Tech’s students and researchers can connect with local startups and corporate incubators, emphasizing the strong ties between academia and industry. One major takeaway from the panel was fostering an ecosystem where students are prepared to dive into real-world challenges, armed with the knowledge and skills to drive meaningful change.
Following the panel, the One-Minute Madness session gave Georgia Tech’s MS-HCI students the spotlight to present their research and interests to an industry audience. Each student had just one minute to capture the attention of potential collaborators and employers, making it an exciting, fast-paced exchange of ideas. The session showcased various projects, from AI-driven design to accessible technology solutions, underscoring the students’ ability to think creatively and tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges through human-centered design.
In the TSRB’s 1st-floor ballroom, attendees could browse through an impressive array of research posters and live demonstrations. These projects, ranging from virtual reality interfaces to new forms of user experience design, highlighted the cutting-edge work being done by Georgia Tech’s faculty and students. The diverse array of topics demonstrated how Human-Computer Interaction at Georgia Tech is at the forefront of shaping the future of technology, particularly in areas of accessibility, personalization, and sustainability.
The event ended with a reception allowing students, faculty, and industry professionals to continue their conversations. This networking portion allowed for deeper dives into potential collaborations, and many attendees were excited about the promising talent emerging from Georgia Tech. This dynamic mix of academia and industry makes Interactivity@GT a valuable event, offering students and industry guests the chance to explore new ideas and form lasting connections.
