Organizations Team Up to Host Showcase Focused on Disrupting an Industry with Content
Forces were joined when student groups Startup Exchange (SX), Georgia Tech Creatives, and the Sports Business Club at Georgia Tech – each representing entrepreneurship, creative content creation, and sports business, respectively – teamed up to host an evening led by Dan Porter, Founder and CEO of Overtime, a sports media company worth over $500 million.
The Showcase: Disrupting an Industry with Content aimed to inspire and educate students on the power of content creation and its impact on the industry. Members and guests were invited to The Clubhouse to hear from the keynote speaker regarding his startup journey and success story. For instance, within just six years, Overtime has grown to attract 65 million followers across more than 80 social media channels. In August 2022, Overtime announced it had raised another $100 million on top of the $140 million it had already raised. Also in attendance were the Overtime Elite players, a professional basketball league for national and international players between the ages of 16 and 20.
Once the presentation concluded, Porter answered audience questions, which covered a range of topics including finding a startup idea and creating content in a rapidly-changing media industry.
Following the event, participants were encouraged to network with others and stop by each of the organizations’ tables, which provided attendees with even more information about their respective programs.
Overall, the event was a huge success, attracting a large number of members, students, and guests. Most importantly, the collaboration between the three clubs demonstrated the power of cross-industry partnerships and the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise in achieving success in any industry.
