Community Member Spotlight: Alea Legg

Meet Alea Legg, Media Director for TEDxGeorgiaTech (TEDxGT). When she isn’t leading the media team at TEDxGT, you can find Alea at a bookstore or traveling (pre-COVID).

As part of our Community Member Spotlight series, we caught up with Alea about a favorite project of her’s, something about her that’s not listed in her resume, what excites her the most about what she’s studying in school, and one thing she’d tell others about Tech Square ATL (TSQATL) Social Club.

Q: What's your favorite thing about TEDxGT and why?

A: The people! The people I have met through TEDxGeorgiaTech are by far the most passionate and supportive people I have ever met. Because we are bonded by a love for spreading ideas opposed to a major, background, or another common factor, it is also an incredibly diverse group!

Q: What's something about you that's not on your resume?

A: I love to travel and I try to visit a bookstore in every new city that I visit!

Q: What excites you the most about what you're studying in school?

A: I am studying Industrial Engineering (IE), and I love that the concepts I am learning can be applied in so many different ways. Pretty much every field has a need for some aspect of IE, and I can see myself using it to make a difference in the future.

Q: What do you enjoy doing during your time off?

A: I love to read, practice photography, blog, and explore coffee shops and ice cream places in Atlanta!

Q: What's one thing you would tell people about Tech Square ATL Social Club?

A: It is a great environment for sharing ideas (and for studying and being productive!).

Q: What's your favorite restaurant/cafe in the Tech Square neighborhood?

A: Sweet Hut!
