Bits of Good Launches into Spring with New Non-Profits

Bits of Good is a Georgia Tech student-run organization that lends their diverse skillsets to local non-profits in order to help advance their web applications. Every semester, they divide and conquer by breaking into teams of project managers, engineer managers, and designers. The “Launch Party” is the first time these civic boosters have the opportunity to meet with non-profits to discuss the projects for the semester.

However, before diving into the ceremony, Bits of Good has a non-traditional way of gathering their teams:

"Prior to the event, we create different categories of objects and characters and copy them onto sticky notes. When members come in, we place a sticky note on their backs. At this point, the project teams do not know what non-profit they are collaborating with, so the first activity is finding their team by organizing themselves into groups of related words. Once they have their whole team, they sit down together for dinner.”

-Michelle Liu (Director of Operations)

This team building exercise sets the tone for all the hard work they will input on projects this semester. After the non-profits take the stage to introduce their organization, the teams have the opportunity to discuss goals for the year. We’re excited to see what this semester will bring.
