GTXR and Meta Host Engineering and Recruitment Panel at Tech Square

Once again, we partnered with GTRX and Meta to host another exciting event at The Clubhouse – this time focusing on a dynamic discussion from two women who are helping shape the future of the Metaverse.

The GTXR Meta Engineering and Recruitment Panel invited local community members (virtually and in person) to hear from Meta’s Global Chief Diversity Officer, Maxine Williams, and Director of Engineering, Deepa Diwakar (who is also a Georgia Tech alumna) regarding the future of Meta within the Metaverse and how it is giving people the tools to feel connected anywhere, anytime.

Hosted by Meta University Recruiter, Kolin Jones, the showcase was broken into three distinct programming sessions:

  1. Introduction

  2. Q&A

  3. Breakout discussions

“The future” was the name of the game that evening, with the presenters speaking heavily on the future applications of Metaverse technology, as well as the future of innovation in the field. They also emphasized the importance and future of education and connectivity through tech.

In general, Meta strives to build deeper connections across the world. Whether person-to-person on a social media platform or creating connections through knowledge acquired with VR or AI, Meta utilizes technology in order to bridge these gaps that occur in our current day society.

Some other key takeaways included:

  • Meta wants to be on the frontier of technological innovation as the field moves towards more immersive applications.

  • Meta aims to “bring the world closer” through their digital platforms.

  • The Metaverse has many beneficial uses in various industries such as education, city planning, and the medical field.

Following the presentations, the student audience had the opportunity to ask questions and the presenters shared profound insight and advice to those looking to enter the field.

Not only did this event provide attendees with the ability to interact with Meta executives, engineers, and recruiters, but to also connect with other members working in the digital technology space – something we (and clearly Meta and GTXR!) are all about
