TEDxGeorgiaTech Takes the Stage Again for Open Mic Night
On the last Thursday of September, TEDxGeorgiaTech hosted their first event of the semester, Open Mic Night, at Tech Square ATL (TSQATL) Social Club’s very own Clubhouse. Complete with a variety of acts and complimentary snacks, 14 performers took the stage to share their talents with the local community.
Hosted by Ali Cumberledge, Executive Director of TEDxGeorgiaTech, the following individuals took time that evening to inform others of their interests and passions:
Rebecca Fisher
Donald Gee
Josie Kwan
Krishna Pusuluri
Harshita Yepuri
Keyson Dingle
Darshleen Kaur
Harita Yepuri
Race Williams
Cris Mateo
Sreenivas Yellayi
Gabby Lee & William Tang
Kya Stutzmann
Evoking feelings ranging from intimate to casual to inspiring and everything in between, the evening’s entertainment included singing, standup comedy, poetry, meditation, and more. Some takeaways from the talent included that grief is a commonly shared experience. The poem about losing a grandmother struck a nerve with the entire audience. Additionally, it takes a lot of strength and self-motivation to overcome life's obstacles. The motivational speakers shared that it takes hard work to make yourself a better person. Inner strength and growth were also showcased that night when the final performer spoke about her battle with self-image and stage fright.
We also uncovered a few things from our audience as well when it comes to collaboration and future goals:
Based on the responses we received, the number of participants in the Showcase, and the amount of audience members, it’s clear that our community is keenly focused on connecting with others, pursing passions, and continuously aiming for success, no matter the field or topic.
What are some of your future goals individually and when collaborating with others? Let us know in the comments below.
