Tech Square Hosts Home Game Tailgate for Georgia Tech

Saturday, September 10 marked the first home football game of the Georgia Institute of Technology’s (Georgia Tech) very own Yellow Jackets. As such an integral part of Midtown, we at Tech Square ATL (TSQATL) Social Club wanted to support our community and players by hosting a rooftop tailgate to cheer on the team!

Coming off a previous first-game loss, the city was still abuzz with vibrancy, excitement, and black and gold everywhere. And we’re no fair-weather fans either – so despite a little bit of rain, we still lugged up hot dogs, burgers, refreshments, and more to the eighth floor of the Centergy Parking Deck. There, members (such as Accenture and GATD), students, family, educators, professionals, and more showed up spirited and ready to root for the home team.

“Even though I can see the football field from my apartment, I still love the energy and atmosphere that tailgating brings,” shared Caroline Dunn, VP of Marketing at Wahsega. “It makes me feel more in touch with my community and it serves as a way for me to support the team.”

Other attendees shared similar sentiments and stories, too. In fact, one Georgia Tech fan revealed that they never actually studied at GT, but their grandma used to drop them off at the stadium on game days while she ran errands and they’ve been a fan ever since.

Despite this being a home game versus Western Carolina University, we were still curious who everyone was rooting for. And to no surprise, we uncovered over 95 percent of those polled were cheering on the Yellow Jackets!

As the festivities continued, participants continued to play games, enjoy complimentary food and drinks, and even forge new connections they wouldn’t have otherwise made.
