Community Member Spotlight: Raghav Apoorv

Meet Raghav Apoorv, a Software Engineer at Uber. When he isn’t building machine learning (ML) models to predict competitive business metrics and designing and developing scalable data platforms to perform complex queries, you can find him cooking, going on hikes, hanging out with friends, and exploring new restaurants.

Q: What's a favorite project of yours and why?

A: I built the in-house chat support platform and a chatbot for Zomato, a food-tech startup in India. It has 40 million monthly users. Proudly, [it was] my first product with such a massive scale. People use it to chat with the customer support team regarding their food delivery orders. Often, I see screenshots of the chat support on social media, citing how it was so helpful for people. The joy is immense.

Q: What excites you the most about what you're studying in school?

A: I am passionate about building products that empower people to do consequential things. At school, I am learning about the latest advancements in machine learning and software engineering. These skills help me in building meaningful products.

Q: What's something about you that's not on your resume?

A: As quoted by one of my roommates, I make the best chicken tikka masala in the Western Hemisphere.

Q: What's one thing you would tell people about Tech Square ATL Social Club?

A: I love the space – something exciting is happening every week. It is a great environment to get stuff done. You get to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and the staff is awesome. And the coffee machine is just amazing!

Q: What's your favorite restaurant/cafe in the Tech Square neighborhood?

A: Tabla, definitely try out their lamb shank lal maas.
