Community Member Spotlight: Chaeeun Park

Meet Chaeeun Park, Director of Production at TEDxGeorgiaTech (TEDxGT). When she’s not building props for the TEDxGT stage, or overseeing videography and post-production for the student-run organization, you can find her sketching art on her iPad with a podcast playing in the background.

As part of our Community Member Spotlight series, we caught up with Chaeeun about what excites her the most about what she’s studying at Georgia Tech, something about her that’s not listed in her resume, a favorite project she’s worked on, her favorite restaurant in Tech Square, and one thing she’d tell others about Tech Square ATL (TSQATL) Social Club.

Q: What excites you the most about what you're studying in school?

A: I study design and I absolutely love how creative and crafty the student culture is. It's an absolute joy to see other design students' work and discuss ideas. Exploring how design can influence the society around us has also allowed me to think more critically about the type of impact I would like to make.

Q: What's something about you that's not on your resume?

A: I'm a huge trivia enthusiast! My friends like to call me a walking encyclopedia.

Q: What's your favorite project with TEDxGT so far and why?

A: So far, I think it's our upcoming TEDxGT event. We will be hosting a Women's Salon on Friday, January 29th and it’s our first time doing an event focused on sharing stories from women in our community. As a woman of color (WOC), I believe sharing these stories sheds light on the unique experiences and challenges that women face in society. We see sharing these types of stories as an integral part of our mission as a student organization.

Q: What's your favorite restaurant/cafe in the Tech Square neighborhood?

A: Tin Drum!

Q: What's one thing you would tell people about Tech Square ATL Social Club?

A: I absolutely love how open and collaborative Tech Square ATL Social Club is. Through TEDxGeorgiaTech and some other student organizations I am heavily involved in, Tech Square ATL Social Club has been immensely friendly and welcoming.
