Tech Square Tries: Babalu Tapas and Tacos

Babalu Tapas and Tacos is about a 6 minute walk from Tech Square, on the corner of Peachtree Pl NE and W Peachtree St. NW (so many peachtree's, it's really close to the Midtown Marta station).

They have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and at first glance, it seems like a great place to bring out of town clients visiting for lunch.  The open windows provide a great relaxed atmosphere.

For this review Tech Square ATL invited Aumri Esdaille from the community to give his opinions below.

First we tried some refreshing cocktails, the Blackberry Margarita and Pepe O'Malley.  Both had a great mix of alcohol without being too boozy.

For starters, the Queso Blanco Dip and chips was served in a little skillet and was pretty tasty. The cheese is rich, thick and not spicy.

One of their Tapas we tried, the Filet On a Stick, had very tender steak with some great seasoning.  We'd definitely order this again to split with a group of 2-4 people.

The Pan Roasted Redfish dish comes with an amazing tasting butter sauce that goes with the redfish perfectly.

We tried a few tacos as well, the Pollo and Carne De Vaca. They both had good flavor with freshly chopped tomatos, onions, corn, and cheese.

Overall, Babalu Tapas and Tacos is a great atmosphere with a friends staff, who checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed.  The portions are a little small for the price, but it's to be expected with a tapas restaurant.  If you're looking to have a small company get-together for lunch or dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, this is one of the first places around Tech Square that we'd think of.
