Tech Square Tries: Rreal Tacos
We are taking a taste bud tour of our Midtown neighborhood. Last week, we took a lunch break and made our way to Rreal Tacos on Juniper and 6th St. Rreal Tacos is a vibrant Mexican restaurant with a choice of tacos, empanadas, and authentic sides. The chef, Adrian Villarreal, has taken inspiration from the food of his hometown Monterrey, Mexico, and brought it to the ATL.
All three of us ordered different variations of their combo, as it is the best deal on their lunch menu for $9.95 with two tacos, a side, and a beverage. I ordered the Pork Carnitas and Beef Barbacoa Taco with a side of sweet potatoes and an horchata. I was incredibly pleased to see horchata on the menu, which is how I knew this place was legit.
Jalen tried the Queso Fundido, which he thought was just going to be the type of queso one always finds at Americanized Mexican chains. However, the queso was real melted cheese, in all its stringy and oily glory, complete with onions, peppers, and chips.
Jared ordered two tacos, an empanada, and topped his meal off with the Rreal Margarita. Our favorites as a group were the margaritas, empanadas, and Pork Trompo taco.
We agreed that this is a great spot to hit monthly, with either colleagues for lunch, or friends after hours. There is both indoor and outdoor seating that provide for an excellent atmosphere. They have great deals on Happy Hour pitchers and their specials change daily. If you haven't been here yet, definitely give it a try.
